The Ancient High HouseOver 400 years of history are waiting to be discovered within the walls of Stafford’s Ancient High House. Built in 1595 the Ancient High House is the largest timber framed town house in England, and one of the finest Tudor buildings in the country.
The house has changed many times since it was first built, and now, fully restored the superb period room settings reflect its fascinating history. Room settings include the Tudor Bedroom, Civil War Room, Georgian Room, Victorian Room and Edwardian Shop, each with its own story to tell. With educational displays, art gallery with exhibition programme, gift shop and children’s activities in each room – there’s something for all members of the family.
